Troubles

I’m currently having some money and housing troubles, so you will not see me around that much. If you would like to help out, please try buying some of my products on Zazzle. :) I’ll try to update this book blog with more things when I am able to.

Please buy from this link, and I’ll earn more money if you buy some of the products from my store. I’ll try to add more products from my photographs as time goes by.

Some of the products Zazzle has with some of my photos:

I forgot to post this yesterday. I had it ready, but I was super busy today, so I couldn’t publish it. ;) Better a little late than never, right? :P

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

I’m going to repost what I’m looking for because no one has found it yet. xD

Let’s see I don’t really have any suggestions of books to read. So let me ask for books that are your top favorites. ;)

I am seeking a book I can remember the details of, but not the title.

Okay this is a book I read a long time ago. I remember most of the details, even though I read it a long time ago. Now I’ve been longing to read it again. >.<

1. It was an anthology. Different authors, but it had the same storyline in each story.
2. It was about some race, but humans mistake them as angels. I think what they are called starts with an E, not sure about that part though.
3. Can tell when their mate, girlfriend, whatever you want to call them, is pregnant.
4. I think there are 3 or 4 stories in this.
5. The cover was simple, I think.
6. The males of this race/species can easily get a woman pregnant – even if they are close to the age where they can’t.
7. They (the males) come from a different dimension or higher Earth, something like that.
8. In one of the stories, one of the males was trapped in a temple, but a woman notices that he is one of the races that makes it easier for women to get pregnant and has fun with him – while he is tied to the ground. He gets freed, and stays with him at her apartment. Then someone from another lord comes to take his head, kidnaps the woman, man has to save. He leaves the woman when he kills the other guy, and then comes back into her life. And some point in the point a conversation like this… “Quiet, <girl’s name>. I need to make sure our child is all right.” This is after she has been drugged.
9. Fighting between lords/kings/something like that.
10. I think in another story that a different girl builds a time/dimension machine and brings another guy to Earth. I think that’s another one of the stories
11. Most of the guys act superior over humans.

“…books that make me laugh.”

I don’t usually read that many books that have humor so can’t help you there. xD

And Grave Tells joins this meme with featuring a vampire series. I have the first book in that series since it is free on Kindle for now, but the covers look really yummy. :P

I’ll also suggest some books since no one has responded with the book I’m trying to find. The best romance book that I think I’ve read ever since I’ve started this blog is Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers. Also, another book I’ve liked a lot is Night Road by A.M. Jenkins.

During World War II, a young Japanese American boy and his family are forced to live in internment camps. Trying to get by in these camps, everyone decides they need something different to do — baseball.

This is a pretty simple book, but it still delivers a small message. :) I love how the author was able to write it in a child’s point of view of how a Japanese Internment Camp was like during this time period. Another thing I like is how different of a plot it is compared to other World War II fiction books — most of the ones I see are about concentration camps or going into hiding in Europe during the war — so it is a nice change. Even in my high school class, I don’t remember going over it that much. :S The descriptions and everything else are very well done, and I was able to feel the emotion of the child who was sent to the camp. ;)

For the text, I was able to see/read the text just fine since it was black text on white paper. As for the illustrations, I don’t really like the style of them, but they do deliver the emotion of the characters better than if it were a style I was used to. :)

Overall, it is a pretty good book, but I can’t really figure out why someone would banned/challenged. Oh, I guess it was banned/challenged because of the slight racism and history America would love to keep hidden from people. Though, I do wish there were fiction books about this period in time. :P

“It definitely left me wondering if there were more adult geared—romantic, horror, or even erotic—tales featuring some of my favorites like Snow White, Beauty and the Beast, the Frog Prince, Red Riding Hood, the Brave Little Tailor, Rumpelstiltskin… even retellings of classics like Jane Eyre or Great Expectations. I just can’t seem to find many that I haven’t already read.”

Okay, let’s see if I can find any. The only retelling I have read is for Frankenstein. The title is The Casebook of Victor Frankenstein, and it is pretty interesting — but I would read the original first. ;)

Now for adult books I haven’t read, I found several lists on Good Reads and Amazon and other sites.

Sorry I couldn’t help more. xD Hopefully the links will keep you a little busy. :P

“…I’d really like to finda few books featuring shapeshifter characters that are raptors (hawks, falcons, owls, etc.) either in romances or anything really. Does anyone have any they can think of? They can be secondary characters even!”

The only raptor shapeshifter book I know of is The Kiesha’ra series by Amelia Atwater-Rhodes. The first book in the series is the only good one to read, but all of them feature raptor shapeshifters. All 5 books are in an omnibus called The Shapeshifters. Though, warning for the last couple of books in this series, it does have a have girl x girl themes. ;)

In order to face off against Neferet, Zoey has finally come home to Tulsa with Stark. Not only that, Rephaim has been “disowned” by Kalona and gifted by Nyx, however, Neferet won’t let that piece of piece last. Neferet starts her evil plan with Aurox, a boy who she claims is a gift from Nyx. Zoey better watch out when she begins to feel drawn to him because there is more to this “gift” than what meets the eye.

For Destined, we still have different points of view, however, Zoey is back to doing most of the narrating. :| Though we do get Aurox, Dragon, Neferet, Shaunee, Rephaim, Kalona, Erik, and Stevie Rae as narrators too. :) It was pretty interesting to read some of the new additions to the point of views. :D You also get some more information on Neferet and Lenobia and their past, which was kind of interesting to read. :P

Despite the little piece of information I enjoyed reading, there was still a lot that I didn’t really like or haven’t liked since the beginning of the series. Of course the first thing that really irritates the hell of me is Zoey and her personality, especially since she hasn’t really changed since the beginning of the series. I find her childish, selfish, and too dependable on her friends and boyfriends. :| Also, I hate how the authors keep pairing her with so many boys. Now Zoey also seems to like to be more sexual as well since I’m seeing more (not detailed) sex or making out scenes. I don’t mind the sexual parts, but she puts Aphrodite to shame with how slutty she acts. Plus, the “bond” Zoey and Stark they say they have is more than sex, but that seems to be the only thing they do together. >.>” Next, I hate how the authors allows the characters to wash away with their feelings they are supposed to feel simply by using powers. I found that very unrealistic and irritating at the “quick fix” to stop their true feelings.

Now for the other issues I have with this book since I could probably go on and on about Zoey. I find it contradictory at how everyone treats Rephaim with distrust, when with Zoey, she tells them to trust her about Stark and most likely Aurox, they do; even though they didn’t prove to be good like how Rephaim did when Nyx asked and gifted him. It was very irritating at how Zoey gets all the special treatment and trust, but no one really gets the trust they deserve. Next thing I always hate in this series is the bringing back characters (like Heath), even though they are dead, it seems to be the theme of these last couple of books. =___=  It’s like, come on, stop pulling away characters just to bring them back in the next book. Urgh! Anyways, other things I found annoying are the constant need to make everyone too perfect, which makes the books a little bit too predictable. Also, it mentions too many other books/shows almost like a hidden ad and the vocabulary words they have trouble with in this book are words everyone should know by at least high school. Oh, one last issue I had with this book, how come Aphrodite hasn’t gone blind from all of the visions when they cause blood to come from her eyes? >.>” Normally, when you bleed from the eyes, it could cause you to be blind or you have something serious going on. xD Oh, well…

There are a couple of things I did like though, not a lot however. One of the things I liked was the interaction between Lenobia and Travis — it was interesting to read. It was pretty much the only thing that kept me from throwing the book across the room. Anyways, the next thing I liked was how Erin and Shaunee become more like individuals than the constant “Twin” thing. Though, I didn’t really like how Erin had a knee jerk reaction (being a brat basically) towards Shaunee wanting to grow as an individual and be by herself. Oh, and the ending was also pretty good — I enjoyed that part as well.

Overall, the characters’ personalities are overpowering the plot, which wouldn’t be a bad thing if they weren’t so annoying and perfect. Also, the storyline is starting to get a little bit too predicable and too “teen” for me to even enjoy. Plus, I find most of the characters’ behavior unbelievable since I never have seen any teen acting or speaking like them. After I finish the books that I have been released so far, I’m dropping this series.

Zoey has returned from the Otherworld, but she has decided to stay on the Isle of Skye for what she calls a “break”. On the other side of the world, Neferet is back in Tulsa and she is set on bringing Zoey back. And if that’s not enough, Rephaim must choose between Stevie Rae and his father.

There might be some slight spoilers in my review, but if there are, I’ll put a spoiler mark new it.

The plot and everything else becomes predictable in this series, especially after Aurox shows up. And if you remember the last part of the previous book or the beginning part of this book, I don’t remember that much, it’s definitely predictable. xD *SPOILER START* I predict Aurox and/or Zoey will start to fall in love with each other because of who is “inside” Aurox. *SPOILER END* And that leaves me with another rant, which I will do later in this review. Anyways, there are still POVs, but it is mostly Zoey telling the story this time. :| Oh, and Zoey has (not detailed) sex in this book as well, and I bet you can guess who she did. So, yes, still sexual themes in this series. The only thing I really like was the bulls and the switched color meanings. ;)

As for the characters, I still feel the same for all the characters, though my hate for Zoey (and maybe Stark) is increasing. Stark’s Scottish accent is a little bit better in this book, but not by much. :S That’s pretty much the only thing that has improved with Stark. Also, he still mentions the “honor” thing and yet has sex with her. =___= As for Zoey, she is getting worse and pissing me off. First of all, how is she a leader when she can’t handle the stress of being “special” to Nyx and take a break? I mean, I get the new to being special, but it’s been long enough for her to get her act together and not be a complete wimp. She cries and whines more than other character in the book, and they have to go through about as much as her. Next, stop with the freaking boyfriends! Why can’t she be single and not having sex or pretend sex with or be sexual with each new guy that comes into the book?! She “loves” too many guys and doesn’t even know what the word means — just picks a guy and puts a “connection” on them. Also, I hated that the authors brought her back to life. When will one of your main characters just die and stay dead? :| Last thing, she very hypocritical, *SPOILER START* like why can’t Dragon stay mad on Rephaim for killing his mate, but she can never forgive Kalona over Heath. *SPOILER END*

Overall, I think the plot and everything else is becoming too predictable and not even interesting anymore. Plus, the characters are less than stellar, especially the main ones. *SPOILER START* Also, in this book, the authors kill off a lot of the characters either because they don’t know who’s who anymore or they need to develop the plot or both. I wonder if they will actually stay dead — unlike the other characters so far. *SPOILER END* Basically, I’m not that impressed so far for this series and think the authors should work on the character development more than the plot for a little bit.
