2ND REVIEW. 1ST REVIEW IS HERE.
Clary Fray wants nothing more than to return her normal uneventful life. Not only does she need to deal with her newly found brother, Jace, and her mother in a deep coma, she has to deal with the mystery behind the deaths of Downworlder children. The only person who could be behind this is her father, a rouge Shadowhunter named Valentine. Will she be able to solve this mystery without losing the ones she loves?
As with the last book, it reminds me a great deal of other books, manga, anime, and shows. For this type of genre, this book has an average plot. The only really good parts are the growth and descriptions. Also, the characters are pretty much average, and you’ll be able to find them (their personalities) anywhere, especially in shoujo manga. This book basically reminds me of a shoujo manga, but without the illustrations.
Another thing I kind of liked was how Simon finally speaks up towards the ending. He doesn’t seem like a spineless jellyfish where Clary’s concerned, which is pretty good growth for him. I also like the Alec and Magnus moments. Yaoi~♥ Shush, I know some people won’t like that, but I don’t mind. The only thing I really wish for is for the author to make Clary less whiny.
Overall, the book is pretty average, so read at your own risk. I’m still going to read the rest of the series, as long as my library has them, because once I start a series, I really can’t stop myself from reading the rest.
