2ND REVIEW. 1ST REVIEW IS HERE.

Kalona and Nefert start to take control of the House of Night while Zoey and the other escape underground. Not only must Zoey find a way to break the spell Kalona has placed on the House of Night, she must deal with three boyfriends again, saving Stark from Neferet, and several other things. Will anything ever be normal again?

This book starts off almost immediately where the previous book has left off — Zoey and the others are in the tunnels with the civilized version of the red fledglings, waiting to form a plan to stop Kalona and Neferet. However, when something happens to Zoey, they have to plan for a confrontation sooner than they all would like. There is a little bit more supernatural in the book than all of the others, but it still has a little bit of Zoey’s drama that I have. Oh, and there are still some sexual themes in this book, so beware of that. ;)

Let’s start with the things I didn’t like about this book. One, I’m starting to hate how the authors keep on describing the characters as “handsome” and “beautiful”. *rolls eyes* Also, they keep on saying the same exact things about the same character. :| I do not need to know that Damien is a fan of vocabulary or that the Twins aren’t really “twins” since I’ve already read that in the other books of the series. Anyways, another thing that is getting annoying is that Zoey has a lot of boyfriends or a boyfriend in almost all of the books. :| Even in Untamed, Zoey wasn’t without a boyfriend for long since she became attached to Stark and called him her “soul mate”. What is wrong with having the same boy as a boyfriend throughout the whole series? Or even having no boyfriend? Do the authors really think that teenagers always need a boyfriend or a love life? Three, this series is starting to get very predictable. :( And lastly, did none of the authors, publisher, editor, etc notice the mistakes in this book? It says something about them if they didn’t notice these mistakes — and no, I’m not talking about grammar or spelling. I’ll go over them later on.

Now for the things I liked about the book. The first thing I liked was the development of Aphrodite and how much her attitude and personality has changed and grown since the beginning of the series. Out of all of the characters, I think the authors did a much better job at developing Aphrodite than almost all of the other characters. Three, more supernatural than high school drama and whining of Zoey, which is one of the things that has been bugging me a lot. And lastly, continuing to merge mythology and Cherokee legends in a very creative way.

Anyways, let’s start with some of the errors that I found, there are about five of them. :|

#1: For the hardcover jacket summary, someone spelled Erik as Eric. :S
#2: Page 141. Why would Darius tell Jack, “I want you to come, too”? Especially when Darius left in the last chapter to go take Heath to his car?
#3: Page 146. When Aphrodite asks about the poems that Zoey, Erik, and Jack found in Kramisha room, Erin says that they found them “written on the wall’s of Aphrodite’s room”. One, last time I checked Aphrodite doesn’t have a room in the underground tunnels. Two, pages 65-67 states that it was Kramisha’s room where they found them.
#4: Page 247. Zoey uses an “advanced” vocabulary word and says that Darius would be pleased at her use of vocabulary. One, Damien is the vocabulary freak, not Darius. With as many times the authors repeat that fact, you would think they know it by now. ~__~
#5: Page 312. When Sister Mary Angela tells Kramisha to get Stevie Rae’s grandmother. First, we haven’t even seen Stevie Rae’s grandmother in any of the books, so how can Kramisha get Stevie Rae’s grandmother. I know some people will call non-relatives “grandma”, but that’s after a long time of knowing them — not a little less than a year or so.

Overall, I’m really starting to like having more supernatural in this series, but it was really hard to enjoy something with so many errors. :| With all of these errors, I’m rating this book a low to middle two stars. If it weren’t for all of the errors, I would have rated it at least a three star. :(
